bookhead Zero to One

Written by one of the founders of Paypal, and founder of Palantir (a counter-terrorism software used by the United States’ FBI, CIA etc), “Zero to One” is meant for those who are interested to begin your own startup, or is somewhat interested in stepping into the path of an entrepreneur. The ideas in this book is written in a precise manner, backed up with contemporary case studies with honest instructions on how to approach entrepreneurship. So, if you want to start your own company in the future, I highly recommend this book!
The main idea of the book starts off with one question:

“What important truth do very few people agree with you on?

Now, take 2 minutes to close your eyes, and ponder on this question. Start, now!

This is the question that Peter Thiel, the main author of this book, poses to someone he interviews. If you think about it, this question is not a very easy one to answer; but once you find the answer, you can only stand to realise that it is a question which challenges you to really reflect on your principles and attitude towards many things. And this stance, of really challenging yourself, as well as your startup team is what Thiel is trying to convey as the message to the entrepreneurs.

The question, too, embodies the attitude of the writing of this book. Lordly confident, Thiel conveys a complete series of advice which arranges the mindset of anyone who wishes to become an entrepreneur. And Thiel manages to convince you by the end of the book – that his set of rules is the right set of rules you have to abide by if you wish to become a successful entrepreneur.

His advice on entrepreneurship, may not be totally out of this world – but that’s where his advice strikes clear. His advice is down-to-earth realistic, and he does not sugarcoat the amount of energy and time that one needs to invest in making your business work. He lays out the difficult decisions in company-making in a simple and direct manner, so that you truly understand what it takes to become a self-made hero.

If you are the type of person who likes ideas to be explained in a clear cut fashion, with none of that beating-around-the-bush hogwash, then this is the book for you, future-entrepreneur!
